How To Setup TBS Crossfire In BetaFlight

Set Serial Rx In BetaFlight

Before we can bind to the TBS Crossfire Nano receiver, we need to tell the Flight Controller we are using the Crossfire provider. We also need to make sure the UART wired for the receiver is set to enable Serial Rx.

Connect to BetaFlight configurator and go to the ports tab. Make sure that your UART or soft serial port has Serial Rx enabled.

Our example shows crossfire setup on UART1

Click Save and Reboot.

Set Receiver Mode And Provider

Reconnect to the BetaFlight Configurator and go to the Configuration tab. Scroll down to the Receiver section.

  1. Set receiver Mode to Serial-based receiver
  2. Set Serial Receiver Provider to CRSF
  3. Enable Telemetry under Other Features

Click Save and Reboot

LQ Link Quality RSSI For OSD

LQ is what Crossfire has to return RSSI values. Even though we are not bound to the receiver, we can still configure this option in BetaFlight so that when we do configure the receiver, it is already in place.

Click the Receiver tab in BetaFlight. TBS Crossifre Nano receiver has 2 settings for how many channel it can use. 8 channels or 12 channels. Depending on how many channels you need for your setup, pick one. This value determines the RSSI Channel in BetaFlight. Click the RSSI Channel drop down to select either AUX4 or AUX8

TBS Crossfire configured for 8 Channels RSSI Channel = AUX4
TBS Crossfire configured for 12 Channels RSSI Channel = AUX8

Take Your Props Off

If you are about to bind your quad, and its indoors, take your props off. Fair warning.

It’s time to bind your transmitter and receiver.
