Before You Flash

Make sure you know the make of the ESC before you update/flash. Flashing the wrong version will complicate this simple process.

BLHeli or BLHeli 32

The BLHeli suite to update ESCS comes in two versions, if you are unsure of your version, click here to find out how to identify your ESC version.

Connect And Read Setup

If you are not familiar with connecting to Blheli and reading the setup, go here first. Open the Blheli Suite, connect your quad to the pc and power it up. Click Connect and Read Setup.

Identify Your ESC Firmware

When the Read Setup is complete you will see a pop up window. This window indicates the target for your ESC and the current version. In the example below the target firmware is P_H_10 (1). The current version of the firmware is 16.7 (2).

Click Ok and then Click Ok again.

Flash The Firmware

Click Flash BLHeli

In the pop flash assistant dialog there are three drop down menus. The first is the target firmware for your ESC (1). The Second is set to MULTI for quads (2). The firmware drop down selects the version of BLHeli you want to install (3).

After selecting the version you want, the available options are shown in pink below the drop down menus. In our example we have selected show all versions (1). And then selected version 16.7.

Click Ok. Next we are presented with a warning. In our case we are flashing the same version of firmware.

Click yes. It will begin to flash ESC#1

When the flashing completes you will be presented with a pop up indicating that the flash was successful or a failure and additional warnings. Click Ok.

You may be asked to write the current setting to the given ESC. If you have made setting changes to an ESC and are updating click Yes, otherwise it is safe to click no. The firmware will still be updated.

The process should take you onto the next ESC. You repeat the process until all of your ESC’s have been updated. When you are finished, a pop up dialog will indicate all of the ESC’s and their versions.

I Can Not Connect To Blheli

  • Are you sure your ESC are BLHeli?
  • Are you running the correct version of Blheli. Blheli_32 is for any ESC labeled Blheli_32. All other Blheli ESC’s use Blheli16.
  • Do you have your quad powered on and connect to your computer via USB?
  • Have you tried reinstalling the USB drivers?
